11 Fun (or not so fun) facts:
1. In the first grade, I played the titular role in our Christmas program, "The Littlest Christmas Tree" — a heartwarming tale about how even the tiniest tree can have the most Christmas spirit. My mom made my costume and, for the grand finale, the elves could turn on my battery-powered Christmas lights and hang ornaments on it.
2. One of the earliest disagreements Scott and I ever had while dating was that he never posted on my Facebook wall. I'm embarrassed by that.
3. I used to be somewhat obsessed with the Powerpuff Girls. For Halloween, I wore a Buttercup costume to school during my freshman year of high school — the perfect way to cement your weird new girl status. I'm also embarrassed by that.
4. My dad, sister and I used to fight over who got to drink the pickle juice out of the jar once all the pickles had been eaten.
5. My first major in college was pre-pharmacy. I was terrible at it.
6. After I've been reading a book for a while, I find myself narrating what I'm doing as if I'm the author of my life as a book.
7. I cry every time I see the commercial for "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" (the Tom Hanks, 9/11 movie). I don't know how I could make it through the actual movie.
8. While I hate being cold, I love coats, jackets and scarves.
9. My favorite grammatical error to fix is a dangling preposition. It's like putting together a puzzle!
10. I'm nerdy enough to have a favorite grammatical error.
11. I keep Burt's Bees lip balm hidden all over the place — in purses, drawers, various nooks and crannies. They're like my Easter eggs for chapped lips.
Taylor's questions for me:
1. Why did you start your blog? Initially, I started my blog to let family know what we were up to. Even though I have a job as a writer, there was something so great about being able to write about whatever I wanted to, whenever I wanted to, so it became just as much about entertaining myself as well as those who happen to read it.
2. What movie are you most looking forward to of 2012? Probably "The Dark Knight Rises."
3. Do you prefer to bake or cook? Or neither? I prefer to bake just because I'm better at it and have a one track mind. I need to focus on one task at hand.
4. Do you have any secret talents? I do a pretty sweet Napoleon Dynamite impression (actually, all of my impressions sound like Napoleon Dynamite).
5. What is one of your pet peeves? The incredible amount of typos Channel 4 lets by on their ticker during the Today Show every morning. I've actually looked on their website for some way to contact them and offer them my freelance copy editor skills.
6. What would your dream birthday involve? I would say my birthday weekend this past year was as close as it could get: spending time with my family and finding out I was pregnant. That part couldn't be an every year thing, though.
7. What is one place you have to travel to before you die? After watching "Midnight in Paris" this weekend, I'm going to say Paris. The first three minutes of that movie are gorgeous all on their own.
8. What is your favorite holiday other than Christmas? Probably Thanksgiving. It's just so peaceful and relaxing.
9. What season do you enjoy most? Why? Summer because that's when our family beach vacation is. After the Christmas countdown comes the beach countdown.
10. What is your earliest childhood memory? That's hard because I have a terrible memory, but I do remember catching my sister as she was falling down the stairs when I was about five and she was two. I had two black eyes for my first day of kindergarten.
11. What is your favorite book? That's a toughie, but the one that inspires me to be a better writer the most is Truman Capote's In Cold Blood. He had an incredible way of working words into the perfect picture and made what was once thought as dry nonfiction as thrilling to read as fiction.
My questions for you:
1. What is your favorite blog?
2. If you had a completely free day to do whatever you wanted, how would you spend it?
3. What is your biggest food weakness and why?
4. What is one skill/talent you would love to learn?
5. What is one thing your dream house would have to have?
6. What is your favorite TV show of all time?
7. What was your favorite childhood toy and why?
8. If you were to have a patronus (a shield against dark forces that takes on the shape of an animal) like in Harry Potter, what animal would yours be?
9. Where did you grow up and would you change that location if you could?
10. Are you a dog or cat person? Or neither? Why?
11. What is something you always dread? (Ex. going to the dentist, laundry, filing your taxes, etc.)
